Troubleshooting Guide – Tesla Light Show USB

If you’re experiencing issues with your Tesla Light Show USB, follow these troubleshooting steps to get your light show up and running!

1. Is your USB fully inserted into the correct port?

Double-check that the USB is firmly plugged into a front USB-A or USB-C port. Some Tesla models have tight ports, so make sure the connection is fully seated.

🚫 Do NOT use the rear USB ports—Tesla only supports light shows from the front ports.

2. Have you restarted (soft reset) your Tesla?

If the light show option isn’t appearing or isn’t working correctly, do a soft reset:

🔹 Hold both steering wheel buttons until the Tesla screen turns off and reboots.
🔹 Wait for the system to fully restart, then try loading the light show again.

3. Are you running the latest Tesla software update?

Your Tesla must be on a recent firmware version to support advanced light shows.

📲 Check for updates:
1️⃣ Go to Controls > Software on your Tesla screen.
2️⃣ If an update is available, install it and reboot your Tesla.
3️⃣ Try the light show again after the update.

4. Does your Tesla support light shows?

🔎 Not all Teslas have light show capabilities! Check if your Tesla has the Light Show feature by going to:
Toybox > Light Show

🚨 If you don’t see this option, your Tesla may be too old or need a software update.

5. Are you selecting the right light show file?

Make sure you’re selecting a show from the USB menu:
Toybox > Light Show > Select Show
✅ Choose any of the Tesla Bay TV exclusive shows
✅ Press Start Show

6. Is the USB formatted correctly?

If your Tesla doesn’t recognize the USB, you may need to reformat it:
1️⃣ Plug the USB into a computer.
2️⃣ Format it as FAT32 (Windows) or MS-DOS (Mac).
3️⃣ Redownload the light show files and copy them back onto the USB.

📌 Tip: If using your own USB, make sure the light show files are in the correct format!

7. Is your Cybertruck or Model X using the right USB port?

🚨 Cybertruck and Model X owners should use the front USB-C ports inside the center console, NOT the glovebox or rear ports.

🚨 Model S/X (2021+) owners: The glovebox USB is for Tesla Dashcam/Sentry Mode. Use the front USB ports instead!

8. Is your Tesla currently charging?

Some Tesla models pause charging when the light show is playing because the charge port door opens and closes during the sequence.

🔌 Try unplugging your Tesla and running the light show again.

9. Are you parked and in a safe area?

🚨 Tesla Light Shows only work when your vehicle is in Park.

🛑 If you’re in Drive or Reverse, the light show will not start.

10. Is your volume turned up?

🎶 Some Tesla light shows include audio tracks synced with lights.

Turn up your Tesla’s volume for the best experience.
✅ If no sound is playing, check that your Bluetooth isn’t connected to another device.
