Tesla Bay Beats General Motors: 25 Teslas Cruise Sunshine Skyway Bridge in Historic ‘No-Hands, Full-Self Driving’ Parade

Clearwater, FL – November 24, 2024

Tesla Bay TV has once again redefined what’s possible in autonomous driving, organizing a record-breaking ‘No-Hands, Full-Self Driving’ (FSD) Parade featuring 25 Tesla vehicles. With the Florida Highway Patrol temporarily blocking northbound traffic, the Teslas cruised effortlessly across Florida’s iconic Sunshine Skyway Bridge, setting a new benchmark in self-driving innovation.

This groundbreaking feat eclipsed the previous record set by General Motors just six days earlier, where 20 vehicles crossed San Francisco’s Bay Bridge. Led by Tesla Bay TV founder Jason Blount, the event shifted the spotlight to the East Coast and highlighted Tesla’s commitment to innovation.

A Monumental Moment on the Sunshine Skyway Bridge

The Sunshine Skyway Bridge, a stunning 5.5-mile stretch over Tampa Bay, became the perfect venue for this historic event. Tesla’s advanced Full-Self Driving technology was on full display as 25 Teslas—including the futuristic Cybertrucks—operated completely autonomously.

Drivers were present as monitors but kept their hands off the wheel and feet off the pedals, relying entirely on Tesla’s Full-Self Driving system to handle lane changes, navigation, and the bridge’s dramatic ascent and descent.

“This wasn’t just about breaking a record,” said Jason Blount, founder of Tesla Bay TV. “It was about demonstrating the power and potential of Tesla’s Full-Self Driving technology in one of the most iconic and challenging real-world settings. Today, we didn’t just set a new standard—we proved that the future of transportation is here.”

Florida Highway Patrol Leads the Way

Safety was paramount throughout the event. The Florida Highway Patrol coordinated a temporary closure of northbound lanes on the Sunshine Skyway Bridge, ensuring a secure and seamless experience for participants and spectators alike. Their escort showcased the growing collaboration between technology pioneers and law enforcement as autonomous driving becomes a reality.

“The Florida Highway Patrol was instrumental in making this event a success,” Blount said. “Their support allowed us to show the world what Tesla’s technology can achieve in a controlled, safe environment.”

Cybertrucks Steal the Show

While every Tesla model contributed to this achievement, the Cybertrucks were the undeniable stars of the show. Their bold, angular designs and futuristic features turned heads as they glided effortlessly alongside other Tesla vehicles.

“Seeing Cybertrucks glide over the Sunshine Skyway in perfect unison was a sight to behold,” Blount added. “They’re not just vehicles—they’re a symbol of what happens when innovation meets imagination.”

From Idea to Execution in Four Days

The idea for this record-breaking event came from a simple suggestion by a Tesla employee: “Why not go for the record?” Inspired by the challenge, Jason Blount and his team sprang into action. In just four days, they rallied Tesla owners, coordinated with law enforcement, and executed a seamless, history-making parade.

“It was a quickly planned effort, but the Tesla community showed up in full force,” said Blount. “This event is a testament to what’s possible when passion, technology, and teamwork come together.”

Goodbye Bay Bridge, Hello Sunshine Skyway

On November 18, 2024, General Motors set the first hands-free driving parade record with 20 vehicles crossing San Francisco’s Bay Bridge. Just six days later, Tesla Bay TV shattered that record with a larger, more ambitious parade on Florida’s Sunshine Skyway.

“We respect GM’s achievement,” Blount said with a grin. “But we knew we could take it up a notch—with more vehicles, more innovation, and a little Florida sunshine. Now, the record belongs to the Sunshine State.”
